Job Description
Nathan Layne Institute is looking for a licensed Cosmetologist or Cosmetology Instructor who brings more than technical knowledge into the classroom.
We’re looking for a leader. A self-starter. A motivator. A coach. A culture-builder.
Someone who can reset the energy on a difficult day, celebrate the wins, hold the standard, and still be the safe place students need.
This is beauty school. It should feel creative, expressive, inspiring, and alive. Students should walk through the doors ready to show up and show out. They need room to discover their style, strengthen their voice, make mistakes, and grow without judgment. The right instructor creates that space while still providing structure, accountability, and real preparation for the industry.
Our instructors set the tone every day. They understand that image matters—not because everyone should look the same, but because this is Cosmetology. They live the lifestyle, take pride in how they show up, stay connected to the culture, and model the confidence and professionalism students are working toward. They also elevate everyone around them. A powerful team supports one another, shares the work, and brings an energy that flows through the entire school. When the team is strong, students feel it.
What We’re Looking For
- Licensed Cosmetologist or Cosmetology Instructor
- Strong skills in cutting, coloring, styling, chemical texture, and hair care
- Confidence teaching theory, demonstrations, and hands-on services
- Knowledge of current techniques, trends, products, sanitation, and industry standards
- Ability to coach students in technique, timing, consultation, professionalism, and client experience
- Strong classroom leadership, communication, organization, and follow-through
- A polished beauty professional who stays connected to the industry and leads by example
Our Core Values
Professionalism, is nailing our work with style and respect by treating folks right, and sticking to our word. We show integrity by doing what we say we will do. No room for office soap operas or Eeyores.
Always Learning is the sugar in our coffee, whether it’s picking up new skills or sharpening them, both at work and at home. We grow as a team so we can win as a team.
Collaboration, is teamwork on steroids. We share the workload and work through our differences to get us over the finish line. No office politics, entitlement, or scarcity thinking.
Strong Work Ethic means we dive in headfirst, with our eyes on the prize. We show up and make sure we deliver the goods. We’re not about slacking off or being late to the game.
Lastly, we are People First. When we put people first, the rest falls into place. No matter how busy it gets or how high the stakes feel, we lead with heart. When people feel seen and valued, they show up and bring their best. People First teams are more resilient, innovative, and fun to be a part of. Around here, people aren’t just part of the process- they are the point.
