Ways to Pay for Beauty School

Financial aid can come in many forms. Here are the major sources of funding that many of our students rely on to help them reach their educational goals.

Scholarships

Scholarships are a first choice when it comes to funding your education, because this is money that you don’t have to pay back.

You can win scholarships from nonprofit organizations, foundations, industry groups, state governments, corporations, and more. It’s not the case that scholarships are just for those pursuing 4- or 2-year degrees: beauty and barbering students are also eligible for many scholarships aimed at helping students of vocational or trade programs.

Some places you can start to browse active scholarships include bold.org, Beauty Schools Directory, and Beauty Changes Lives.

We also offer our own scholarship, a Careers That Work Scholarship, to up-and-coming high school graduates. Be sure to ask our Financial Aid representatives about scholarship deadlines.

Grants

Similar to scholarships, grants provide funding for education that doesn’t need to be paid back. Typically, grants are awarded based on financial need. Talk to the Nathan Layne Institute’s financial aid specialists to understand what grant options you may be eligible for.

Student Loans

Loans are money that you borrow, and these are either private loans or federal government loans. Federal loan aid has the advantage of offering generally more favorable interest rates and repayment plans.

As an institution accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS), our school is qualified to offer federal financial aid to eligible individuals.

To qualify for federal financial aid, you’ll need to apply and be eligible for a loan. Talk to us to find out if you’re eligible.

Financial Assistance for Veterans

Nathan Layne Institute proudly offers grants, loans, and scholarships to U.S. military veterans. This is an especially fantastic opportunity for service members finishing their current contract with the military and looking for their next chapter in civilian life. This assistance also applies to military spouses.

We have the experience and knowledge to help you utilize the GI Bill® when applying to cosmetology school. GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

More information about education benefits offered by the VA is available at the official U.S. government website at benefits.va.gov/gibill.

Applying for Financial Aid: What to Expect

Regardless of the program you’re interested in, the first step is determining the amount of financial aid you are eligible for. Connect with a member of our Admissions team, where our expert staff can offer financial aid advice geared toward your particular situation.

Soon after you begin the conversation with our Admissions team, you will apply for financial aid through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). This is a necessary step to determining how much assistance you are eligible to receive.

Once completed, you can reach out to one of the Financial Aid administrators here at Nathan Layne Institute and work with them to see what kind of package you qualify for, as well as the length of time you’ll be able to apply it to your education here.

When filling out the FAFSA®, use our institute’s school code for our Chubbuck (Pocatello) campus: 016432.

Once you’ve completed your application and all of your required forms are submitted, we wait to receive your Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) from the state. As soon as that comes through, we’ll inform you that you can proceed with the enrollment process.
